Everyone Is Unique

Everyone Is Unique

You may have seen our beautiful Rock Garden on your way into Kemp Elementary and may be wondering how that came to be.  It was the counselors' vision to first, teach a lesson on the value of being unique, accepting ourselves and others for our individuality.  Then, representing our uniqueness through the painting of rocks for a beautiful display on campus.

We hope that your child has found his or her rock and has had the opportunity to show it to you.  We would appreciate your help in making sure that the rocks stay in the garden to keep it beautiful for everyone to enjoy for years to come!

This project would not have been accomplished without the help of several organizations and people.  First, we want to thank Mrs. Shea Thomas, our amazing principal, for First, we want to thank the Cobb Schools Foundation and the Atlanta Braves for the initial funding from an IMPACT grant.  Secondly, thank you to our brand new art teacher, Mrs. Laura Smith, who jumped right in and made sure that every student designed and painted their very own rock!  She also opened up her art room to the Kemp staff to paint their rocks!  We appreciate Solid Rock Landscaping for digging our trench, trimming it and lining it with landscaping fabric.  Thank you to the Kemp Foundation for providing the landscaping sand to go underneath all of the rocks.  Finally, thank you to AAA Signage for creating the sign, giving it the final touch.
